Burgersfort – In a bid to make life easier for the Grade 12 learners, DBP Burgersfort handed out stationery to Calvin College’s matriculants.

The donations were made on Friday, just after the pupils had completed their physical science paper.

The stationery packs contained pens and rulers.

They were handed over to more than 100 pupils in the school hall. DBP Burgersfort’s director, Ophelia Manyiki, said the purpose is to motivate the learners and to show themsupport.

“We are not only motivating them, but showing them that we care for them. We want to show them we believe in them. We want our kids to have all the resources during exams. They are the future,” she told Steelburger/Lydenburg News.

“We are a local business, owned by locals for the locals. We are contributing to our communities with donations. We prefer to invest in education, as it is the future of our youth. That’s how we give back to our clients,” she said.

Manyika assured the locals they would continue with the donations of stationery packs to schools in Tubatse and surrounds.

Kuriakose John, the principal of Calvin College, expressed his gratitude for the donations.

“We are thankful for this good gesture and we are happy for our learners.”

Last Friday’s donation was not the first time DBP Burgersfort has given back to locals. The company recently donated stationery packs to Mashishing Secondary School.
